  • BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (AHA BLS-P) Open or Close

    The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

    Intended Participants
    Any healthcare professional who needs to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

    Course Content:
    Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Critical concepts of high-quality CPR The American Heart Association Chain of Survival 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant Relief of choking for adult, child and infant CPR with an advanced airway

  • ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT (AHA ACLS-P)Open or Close

    ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

    Intended Participants
    ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.

    Course Content:
    Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device defibrillator Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia, unstable tachycardia etc Airway management Related pharmacology Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics

    An AHA Instructor course teaches the methods needed to effectively instruct others in resuscitation courses.

    Instructor Course Prerequisites:
    Before attending the discipline-specific classroom portion of an instructor Course, all instructor candidates must
    Be accepted by an AHA Training center ( LIHS) before taking the course Have current provider status in the discipline they wish to teach Have completed an Instructor Candidate Application Complete the online essential module Be proficient in all the skills of the disciplines they will teach
    Course Objectives:

    Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

    Reveal proficiency in current BLS skills and concepts Demonstrate proper function and use of BLS teaching equipments Teach a BLS course using the video instruction and lesson maps Demonstrate ability allow students to practice BLS while watching the video Demonstrate ability to evaluate students fairly and provide appropriate remediation if needed Understand and perform defibrillation and transcutaneous pacing Use testing materials to conduct skills testing
