Lourde Hospital has a well - equipped Blood Bank with blood components separation facilities including leuco-reduced RBC. As there is always a short supply of Blood the ability to separate and supply only those components that patients need, leads to efficient use of this precious resource. At our Blood Bank we are able to supply both whole blood as well as its components like packed cells, fresh frozen plasma, platelet concentrate, cryoprecipitate and saline washed packed cells. This leads to the most effective way of optimum, safe and economical use of blood, since a number of patients could be treated with the same unit of blood.
We have set our own internal quality parameters for the blood we handle. The Blood bank organises out- reach blood camps periodically to detect blood groups and encourage blood donation among people.
